Last weekend Camp Pie Hole kicked off the fall season! I have to say this is the beginning of my favorite time of year. I do wish I lived in a place that had four actual seasons, but I make the best of that and embrace what bit of a seasonal change we get. Fall is the inspiration for Pie Hole’s Top Ten.
10. We are in the midst of our Indian Summer! The days are warm, the Santa Ana’s are beginning to blow and the evenings are cool and crisp.
9. Harvest Festivals!
8. All my shows are back from summer hiatus and each day my DVR welcomes me with many options of GOOD TV.
7. Wine tasting at the vineyards!
6. Even though it is HOT outside I embrace comfort food – pot roast, chili, apple muffins (from our tree), anything pumpkin, red wine and freshly baked bread!
5. Costco, Lowe’s, Home Depot and most other retailers are beginning to seductively set up Christmas. I call this Holiday foreplay!
4. I have 90% of my Christmas shopping already done!
3. The holiday catalogues are starting to bombard me! LOVE IT! Now I have to wrestle my two and half-year old over them! I am rasing her well!
2. Even though I hate football, it is nice to know it is there – it is the true sign that fall has arrived!
1. The beginning of the crazy wild-eyed side of humanity who is gearing up for another season of running around acting like a “Jack”, ” Jenny” or “Hinny”, losing all perspective of selflessness and courtesy in the spirit of the holidays. I am anticipating this time with a full “giddy” approach. The material I am going to get will be priceless!
“I hate Football”…………..(takes out notepad…places Ms. Pie on Double Secret Blog Probation)
You have Fall in California? Who knew….. Do the Palm trees change colors? 🙂
Sorry man! I never could get into watching grown men run around in tight pants and man handling each other. But this is coming from a girl that does not like to go to Thunder Down Under or Chip and Dales in Vegas. The Football uniform is too close to that visual for me. Now Hockey on the other hand… if there is not blood on the ice, I am a very disappointed viewer! GO STARS! I was there when they when Taco Bell was handing out free tickets to get the team from MN recognition and I was there when they won the Stanley!
Great post! Autumn in London is fabulous too! Where I come from, the seasons are not so pronounced either, although this time of year is spring. It all feels upside down for me!
Sunshine xx
Stand on your head and pat your stomach, that always works for me! Thanks and have a blissful autumn day!
LIKES HOCKEY…. (takes out notepad….scratches name off of Double Secret Blog Probation list……now places her name on “Women I would marry in a heartbeat if I was a Polygamist” list)
Hockey is actually my favorite sport! You are now officially off the hook for not liking football.
Awe shucks… the love fest continues. . .If I was a “polygamist” as well, you would be on the top of my list! I think the hubs could use a break from my pie hole from time to time! 🙂
…Holiday Foreplay….. ROARING & LOL
You just made my day. Just yesterday I saw Christmas decorations in a store & I found it irritated me. I was thinking “Can’t we have Halloween first?” “What about Thanksgiving?”
But, wow, now that you called it Holiday Foreplay, I’m in.
I will forevermore love the early arrival of Christmas decorations!
It is all about knowing how to gettting us women warmed up and the retail industry tapped into that!
🙂 Thanks!
I must say that my favorite part of the fall is the colors, I squeal with excitement walking through parks or driving along the highways when the woods are all red, orange and yellow.
and to the idiot- hockey is for the weak. RUGBY; now we’re talkin’
Wahatsnormality- I do say that I love the leaves too, but in these parts no such luck for that to happen! As for Hockey, Idiot and I are just victims of Hockey being the only sport the Canadians are willing to share… I would be a die hard Rugby fan it was more popular here in the states! I have no envy of Curling though… you can keep that sport!
“Holiday foreplay”! I guess you are just a glass-half-full kind of person then:)
Yup, I have 4 lemon trees on my property, I defiantly know how to turn lemons into lemonade and see it all in a glass half full;-)
Wow…you have 90% of your Christmas shopping done?! I haven’t even started yet…ugh!
I wish I was as organized as you are!
Yes, guilty! I hate shopping and I hate shopping in crowded stores so I do it early for self preservation and for any possible risk my husband would have to bail me out of jail because I shoved a artificial Christmas Tree up a very rude and self center fellow human’s behind. . . 🙂
