Me (The Pie Hole) – I am just a stay-at-home mom once Human Resources Specialist (Human Resistance). Oh the stories I could tell about those 10 years of my life! I have a degree in Theology. I was born in Colorado, lived in Dallas, Texas while in college, and now live in Southern California for a second time in my life. I guess I love the land of the fruits and nuts and being a state that can never manage their budget. I love to write and it is now my outlet since I am home chasing after two very small children. I love to cook, clean (yes, I love a clean and organized house), be creative, and have a fondness of WINE. Costco is my happy place and the place of the hubs and my first date and where he purposed. We eloped and got married in Vegas and I have no regrets.
I have a huge passion for life and am an extrovert by all measures so that makes for some neat interactions with humanity and brings that balance to the hubs quiet personality.
The Hubs – This is my husband and best friend. He puts up with a lot of shenanigans being married to me. He is the leader of the “nerd herd”, but I would not change that for a minute. He is the modern-day MacGyver! The boy can fix and do anything. He better, since he is a Mechanical Engineer. He is a bit socially inapt among large groups, but if he is in his comfort zone he is full of wit and sarcasm. This is a good balance to my overly outgoing personality. He has some company patents under his belt and comes from a long line of successful and gifted engineers. His grandfather was the Chief Engineer of GM and his father has some of his work displayed at the Washington DC Smithsonian Air and Space Museum from the Space Race Era (Apollo Capsules). More or less our kids will be a force of nature; extraverted engineers or some sort of scientist (hopefully MD’s) with huge personalities.
Petri Dish 1 (PD1) – My first-born daughter. She is very independent, full of life and has the gift of the gab! That child can almost out talk me and that is saying a lot. She refuses to eat dinner which unnerves me to the core and she loves music with such passion. She is one of the toughest kids I know. At 18-months she fell down a flight of stairs (on the hubs watch) bouncing down each and every wooden step. I was horrified when she ended up at the bottom all bloody and bruised, but in the middle of me doing my first aid assessment she jumps up wipes her bloody nose and mouth and tries to head back up the stairs all smiles. I was shaken for days over that, she was just a bit bruised and to this day loves stairs. She falls down and skins her knee she just jumps back up and continues on with whatever she is doing. The hubs and I both have high pain thresholds, so I guess she got a double dose.
I did designate a child psychologist to be her godmother, so that should ensure all the damage we do to her can be remedied with outings with her Auntie Dr. E.
Petri Dish 2 (PD2)- She is the baby of the family and just entered into toddling around stage of life. Her nickname around the house is HDQ (High Drama Queen). This child has been drama from the moment she was conceived. One day I will blog on the pregnancy from hell, but for now just go with me on that. When she came out I could hear her screaming two rooms away and once she met me, I have been her person. She is a child of few words, much like her daddy, but who could get in a word edge wise with me and her sister to compete with? When she is mad or upset, you know about it and it is the end of the world. Her vice is that she thinks it is hilarious when she throws her food, cup, plate on the floor during meal time. It unnerves me just as bad as her sister not eating dinner. She is the baby of the family and even though she gets the shaft of hand-me-downs, she gets away with more than I ever let PD1 get away with.
Sadie Dog – She is my first kid and is the sweetest and most loving animal I have ever had. However, not the brightest. She is a 50 lbs “pound puppy” lap dog and I honestly thinks she understands that we saved her. She tolerates the kids, but would much rather be back in the life of just “us”. She is the fastest dog on the beach and she is the quietest dog in the neighborhood. She can be a tad bit nosey of the goings on in the neighborhood and she does sass back to me when she gets into trouble. She has serious separation anxiety and can literally jump a 6-foot fence in one leap (I have seen it done… just like a deer jumps a fence). She just exited her teen years and still has a love for sunbathing for hours and then comes in panting and complaining that she is hot. She loves baths in the warm shower and HATES the vet with a passion. I think that stems from her being in and out of doggy jail the first 6-months of her life. All in all she is the best darn dog anyone could ask for and I am dreading the day I have to say goodbye.
It’s lovely to get to know you all! Lol @ “She falls down and skins her knee she just jumps back up and continues on with whatever she is doing” that’s so cute! My little boy is the complete opposite. He won’t get up and won’t stop crying until I “kiss him better” haha.
Thanks, she is starting to learn the art of the kiss and make things better from her little sister, but sometimes I think she it is more effort to go through that whole process and just keeps to task.
